Fond Farewell and Native Looks

I apologize for this post being late for the hairs. RL and our internet seem to be against me lately. But here they are! Adoness, once again the hairs are gorgeous! And pairing them with Lumae’s newest fantasy skin tones, I had to do a couple different characters. The dress they are wearing is one that I am working on and will be releasing on my kid avi in one of her new stores coming soon (Curtain Call). I used the hud to tint the colors to better match the skins an hair but am thinking I will need to add some fantasy colors now.

So, I’ve been putting off this decision for a while, because I genuinely love making my fantasy looks and stories. However with this no longer being my main avatar and me starting two small clothing stores and a dance team along side SL kid school and RL work. I’m finding myself so busy I don’t notice I haven’t blogged in a long time until I see a sponsor pack go out. So for now I am going to put my blog on hold until such time that I have more free time or until I miss it so much I make more time for it consistently.

I will continue taking photos of course, but they will be more family and dance orientated. I’m not sure I will upload them or not, if I do they will be posted on my kid avi’s flickr. If I do some that fit in with Lilli’s fantasy story / artsy photos I will post them on her flickr. 🙂

Thank you to all of you who have followed me, every view was a lovely surprise and the comments even more so! ♥ I won’t be deleting this blog, because I have a feeling I will miss it tremendously and come back to it when I can.

Feeling Sporty

Hey guys! Wanted to show you Adoness’ new release at Genre. 🙂 It comes in six colors each with their own team name and is only 100L each while at the event. I also wanted to show you a dance I choreographed on my new main avi, the purple haired girl. Sorry I forgot to write down her credits, I’ll try to add them soon.

Also wanted to share my excitement over some recent awesome news. Lilli isn’t my main avi I play anymore, I use her mostly for blogging and some fun events or shows. I play a kid on my new main, sometimes 4 and sometimes 14. On her I am working on getting a dance troupe started, have about 21 dances choreographed and 5 or 6 sets made. I’d love to recruit some more people interested in being a part of a dance group. So far it is me, my mom, my sis and possibly 2 others.

It’s a mixed age group and the goal is to create family friendly shows. I’d love to find a couple of members who want to help with sets and choreography and maybe even costumes. I have started making a few outfits and have done the stages so far, but with more people helping we can do more shows. In the near future I’d like to open a venue and have one show monthly with a few viewings. If you or someone you know is interested you can contact me on Wyona Steamweaver for more information.

I recently applied to perform at SL 13th birthday event and just found out we got a spot! June 22nd at 6pm slt we are performing our first big dance show! Here is a sneak peak at one of the dances I have choreographed. 🙂

A Murder of Crows

Her piercing green eyes swept around the abandoned fair grounds a small smile gracing her lips at the broken sights. The sound of wings and a calling caw drew her attention to the dark sky. She held out her arms without stopping and cooed at the crows that perched on her and those flying around. Two of the crows inched close to her face and gave their reports. She listened intently her smile growing at their news. She sent them off again and set off towards the old dirt road on the far side of the park.

Sorry not a long story this time. However I have to say you will be seeing this sim again because while I was looking for a spot to do this photo I explored and wow I loved one area especially and plan to create a look to better fit it. 🙂 Other news, I am back from my short break after the Fantasy Faire! Oh my goodness was it ever fun blogging them again this year. The last demon look, you will also be seeing similar again because I loved how those elements came together and do not feel that post did it justice.

Now, on to what my sponsors have been up to. Something New Poses is doing less events this month to focus more on some new releases and I love the pose I used for this post. Gorgeous work guys!

Adoness on the other hand has been a busy bee and is in quite a few events right now. She is in the Dark Fair 3, Thrift Shop 13 and Genre this month. The genre dress is a cute sports dress that I will be showing in a later post. And if any of you have had the same bad luck finding shaved hair bases for Lelutka heads (other than the ones they released with some new hairs) dispair no more! Adoness is working on bringing her beautiful shaved hair bases to appliers! So far she just has the basic and rose designs on Lelutka appliers but is working on other appliers as well as other designs down the road. Perfect for showing off with her new mohawk hair style. You can find both the hair and hair bases at The Dark Style 3. At Thrift Shop 13 she has a gorgeous new dress with a morte motif.

Last, but not least, Lumae has a new release. She’s had some troubles with getting on SL and so missed a few planned events but her new makeup for Eirtae at Enchantment is just gorgeous. The lipstick appliers she did for the hunt prize are wonderful as well and go great with the skin. The new makeup only comes in tone 3 but during the event is only 100L so be sure to run over and pick it up.

Ending in Serenity

N’Mara smiled at the sight of the last area she planned to explore. The faire had been wondrous and larger than she could have imagined, but she was beginning to tire and looked forward to a short visit with her friend Bright Horn before returning to her slumber. She would have to ask Bright Horn to wake her each year for the faire from now on so that she could see how it changed from year to year.

 

The area she had entered appeared to be a holy place. While there were buildings they had the look of monasteries or churches. There was a beautiful lake and waterfalls from the cliffs surrounding it. A large tree was front and center and she stopped to read the plaque below it. “Here is a place of serenity. The lights below flicker with love for those who fight and for those who have faded into the night find here amenity. The lights flicker below and twinkle above. ” She smiled and went to browse the shops.

 

She was surprised to see a demoness walking among the shops. She would have thought none would want to be in a holy area, even if it was at a faire. The demoness smiled and gave her a small bow before approaching a nearby priestess and asking for her blessing. The priestess gladly gave it to the woman. N’Mara shook her head and decided she must have missed much while she slept. Perhaps the woman was not really a demoness but just looked like one.

 

N’Mara stopped at one last kiosk and placed the remaining few coins from her pouch into it. She was glad that Bright Horn had woken her and told her of such a great adventure. Not only did she find many wonders, she was glad to have been able to help raise money for the sick. She took a last look around the faire and left to return to Bright Horn’s glade.

Oh my goodness, so you ever go to take what you think is a really good photo and SL just keeps crashing? Yeah I did that about 10 times on the moonlit pic of N’Mara. Finally I just used gyazo to capture a snapshot and edited out my nametag. >< So that’s why it’s smaller than normal and not as good a quality. Also I am not able to be online tomorrow an that’s why I am doing so many posts today. ♥ So you have a day or two to go get a look at the Faire before it disappears for the year.

Blanket of Fog in Blackmoor

N’Mara stopped in a shop and changed her clothing to better cover her. While the foggy chill didn’t affect her as it did living beings, she did not wish to be conspicuous. Thus covered again she looked around the new area. It was dark out even though she had just been in a sunny warmth.

The trees seemed to reach down out of the dark sky and grab at her. A thick fog crept along the ground. After tripping over the uneven stones she couldn’t see through the fog the first couple times she slowed her walk and picked her way along the street more carefully.

The shops and town had an old almost abandoned feel. And yet was brimming with life. Small groves of trees lined the streets and guarded the small cemetery at one end of the town. As she passed she noticed a pale form kneeling in the graveyard.

She paused and stared trying to see the figure more clearly. It was a pale fae. She was talking softly to the grave in front of her, dressed in what appeared to be an old harem outfit. Near her on the ground was a small instrument. N’Mara supposed she must be one of the performers. She turned and continued down the road, leaving the fae to her private grief.

So brief note, I wrote the story while at work and thought I remembered a cemetery in Blackmoor. Then found out when I went to take pictures that I was wrong. But this candlelit area had a memorial type feel so I hope it works just as well. 🙂

Dim in Dangarnon

N’Mara looked down at her short dress, smiling at the feel of the gold coin jewelry brushing across her skin as she moved. Her smile faded a bit as she looked up at the small town she had entered. It was more dreary and dangerous feeling than the other faire areas she had been in thus far. She tilted her head back staring up at the tall tower and the light bursting from it up into the sky. After a while she lowered her gaze and tugging her dress straight she moved through the crowded streets.

 

There was quite a variety of shops and the insides were as magnificent as any she had seen in her exploring of the faire grounds. She had never seen anything on the scale that this faire was at. There were 14 large areas set up as small towns filled with many shops. A lot of different beings and creatures were wandering around or running shops or entertaining people. She smiled at a faun as she bounded past. At the edge of town in a small area surrounded by rock she came across the skeleton of a dragon. As she knelt to look closer she heard a growl from nearby and decided it would be a better idea to return to town.

 

A big statue stood in a clearing in the middle of town and she stopped to stare. There were spikes sticking up around it and its head had been knocked off and replaced with a wooden sign written on in red paint. She wasn’t sure what it said as she didn’t recognize the language. Hmm, curious. She debated asking someone about the statue’s history and story but was distracted by raised voices.

“What do you mean you won’t sell me any clothe?” A woman’s voice yelled angrily.

N’Mara drifted towards the voice, not knowing why but feeling drawn to it. She went down to the docks and saw a mermaid floating in front of a weavers cart. The mermaid and the shopkeeper continued to argue. As she got closer she understood that the mermaid didn’t have the right coin to buy the cloth and the shopkeeper did not want any of the items the mermaid had on her to trade. N’Mara stepped up next to the mermaid and laid her hand softly on her arm to get her attention.

The mermaid stopped mid-sentence and turned to her, a frown on her face.

 

“I would be happy to trade you those items for some coin. It has been a long time since my friend has been to the ocean and I know she would love them for gifts.” N’Mara smiled at the mermaid and pulled put a number of coins and held them out towards her.

The mermaid looked between her and the shopkeeper and blushing she nodded and forced a smile at her. She traded her the beautiful shells she held for the coins in N’Mara’s hand. She handed them to the shopkeeper, who frowned but gave the bolt of cloth to the mermaid and put the coins in her purse. N’Mara smiled at them both and waving turned and headed back into town. She put the shells in her bag as she walked.

Hedgehog Stew at Echtra

N’Mara looked around the wet, dreary area she had entered. After the bright heat of the Golden Delta it was a shocking abrupt change. She saw a sign in one of the first shops advertising rain bubble charms. She smiled and went inside to dry off, change clothing, and purchase one of the charms. When she left the shop she was once again dry with a bubble surrounding her and protecting her from the rain. She stopped and looked at a statue of a boy with glowing foot prints in front of it. She tilted her head and wondered what the meaning of them was. (( There is a hud on the sim for the Echtra experience, I believe those are part of that.))

As she wandered this newest small town of shops she smiled at the people and creatures she saw. A small group of sheep gathered near a torch in a small alley bleated at her as she passed. She saw a fire-pit ahead with a few tiny hedgehogs sitting on logs. There was a giant cauldron hanging over the fire filled with a delicious smelling stew in it. The hedgehogs looked up as she stopped to peer in at the stew.

The smallest hedgehog smiled and said, “Would you like some? We made a big batch to sell to faire goers.”

She smiled down at him and pulled out a coin. “I would love some, it smells delicious.”

The bigger of the hedgehogs grunted and picking up a bowl he ladled some of the stew into it and handed it to her. He waved a hand at the empty tree stumps. “Please sit and enjoy. Our small town pulls the heat right from you humans it seems.”

She sat and after a few bites said, “Ah, not so for me, I am not human but statue.”

“Statue??” The smaller hedgehog squeaked. “But you walk around! You look alive to me.”

She nodded. “I am enchanted to appear alive. Much of the time I slumber in my natural stone.” She finished the last few bites of the soup before continuing. “My good friend Bright Horn wakes me every so often when there is need or she believes I will be interested in something going on, such as this faire.” She grinned and stood, leaning down to place the bowl near a small pile of other used ones. “Thank you for the soup. It is very tasty.” She bowed her head to them and continued down the road.

She reached the end of the road and went through the gates of the town out onto an open plain. In the distance she saw a small henge and intrigued headed towards it. She could feel the pulses of magic coming from it. As she approaches she saw a small golden light flitting within the henge. Coming to a stop just outside the circle of stones she watched captivated as a small gold fairy flew around inside of it. Watching close she realized it was an enchanted statue much like she. Only instead of being self aware it merely flew in a predetermined pattern inside the magic of the stone henge. She watched for a while mesmerized before she pulled out her teleporting scroll and randomly chose her next destination.

The Golden Delta

N’Mara had heard some other faire goers talking about the magnificent ancient Egyptian area of the faire and knew she had to visit that one next. Ancient Egypt had been one of her very favorite times. She changed into an outfit more appropriate for Egypt’s heat and used the teleport scroll to enter The Golden Delta.

She smiled at the Delta’s authenticity and began to wander through the shops set up in a series of small pyramids. Occasionally she would pause to sit on the plant strewn platforms under a statue, not due to heat or tiredness, but rather to enjoy its tranquility among the blowing sand.

As she wandered among the shops she saw a temple area above some and headed towards them curiously. She climbed the stairs and found a small group of people sitting watching a young woman speak. She went closer and realizing the woman was telling a story settled down with the others to listen.

The woman told of the gods and goddesses of Ancient Egypt and how a small town much like The Golden Delta use to exist but was lost to the ravages of war and buried by time. As she told stories of the towns prosperity and how the gods and goddesses walked among the humans in that long ago time she gestured to statues and landmarks behind her in the Delta below.

Sorry N’Mara has no image this time, SL kept crashing on me making it almost impossible to get the pictures of the storyteller let alone pictures of N’Mara as well. I also noticed when I was doing my composite photo of the storyteller that the bellybutton on the skin is kind of weird, although that could have been it not fully rezzed because the details of the pants were blurred some. Otherworldly Faire

N’Mara pulled out the teleport scroll a merchant had given her and scanned the list for the next place to visit. “Otherworld hmm?” She read the short incantation and blinked at the flashing light. When she opened her eyes she was in a huge cavern with open sides. All around were giant mushrooms, glowing grasses and huge crystals. She didn’t see any stores but saw people wandering around and some in small alcoves with benches.

She followed the path a ways and saw a small crowd gathered. As she approached she saw that they were watching a fairy dance. Her pink coloring stood out among the blues and greens and she was lit by a purple hued sunbeam. It had been a long time since she had seen a fae so she stayed and watched the graceful dance. The fairy finished and gave a curtsy to her audience.

“I hope you enjoyed my show, faire travelers. Please consider dropping donations in the various kiosks as the money is going to help the sick.” She gave another curtsy before waving and flying off into the cavern.

N’Mara smiled and pulled a few of the coins Bright Horn had given her from the pouch and put them in a kiosk. She saw some stairs and decided to see what was above the giant cavern. Looking up she saw that it was a really long climb. About halfway up there was a big platform with seating and some signs. She went in to investigate and discovered that the reason there were no shops here was because it was a sim for literary events. After a brief pause on the platform reading a few of the signs she continued up the stairs. Finally she reached the top and stood astonished.

There was not only a huge platform over the cavern below, there was a gigantic tree towering above it. It was so tall she couldn’t see the top of it among the clouds. There were more lush plants and small ponds and gazebos around the platform. She wandered around stopping now and them to take in the glowing plants and crystals. There were so many varieties she’d never seen before.

She came upon a small pond with some columns and spotted a harp. A harp! She immediately went to it and ran her fingers over the string. The soft sound was wonderful. It had been ages since she had been able to play and she could help sitting in what was one of the most tranquil spots she had ever come across and playing a soft lilting tune. She closed her eyes as she played, relaxing and improvising the tune to match the noises of the nature around her. When she stopped her eyes opened in surprise at the clapping coming from in front of her. There was a small crowd of people smiling at her. She smiled and stood giving a small curtsy and after a moment told them what the fairy had earlier. She was happy to see many did indeed drop coins in a nearby kiosk. She gave the harp one last look and continued her exploring.

The Faire Calls

Bright Horn entered the enchanted glade and approached the statue of her friend illuminated by the light of the moon. She stepped forward and lay her horn on the statue, whispering the words that would awaken her friend from her slumber.

The statues eyes opened. Slowly the statue relaxed her pose and looked around the glade. She smiled when her eyes found Bright Horn and she spoke in a soft singsong voice, “Bright Horn, my friend, what a pleasure it is to see you.”

Bright Horn nickered and pawed the water with a nod. Welcome back, N’Mara. Did you have a nice sleep? 

N’Mara hopped off of her pedestal and hugged Bright Horns. “It was peaceful. How long has it been since my last awakening?”

Fifty-four years, my dearest. I am sorry to say our magic was weakening and I could not wake you for many years.

N’Mara frowned. “The magic seems no weaker than last time I was awake. What happened?”

Magical creatures and beings from all over have banded together in the last decade and once a year they hold a large faire. The faire has reminded humans that magic is real and still alive. They have learned that they have nothing to fear from most of us. Some have even discovered magic within themselves and so go to schools that teach both humans and non-humans. It has brought our glade back to life allowing us to reawaken you. 

N’Mara smiled. “This faire sounds interesting. I will have to go to it and see what has changed.” She paused and looked down at her vine covered body. “Can you help me take care of these vines, dear heart?”

Bright Horn nickered and gently pulled the vines and flowers from N’Mara. She reached behind the pedestal and pulled out a dress for her. N’Mara grinned and slid into the garment. She sat atop her pedestal and after releasing her hair from its braid, finger-combed and re-braided it.

“Tell me what has been going on while I was asleep?”

Bright Horn nodded and settled in for a long evening of stories.

Hey guys! If you hadn’t guessed N’Mara (nuh-mar-uh) is my Fantasy Faire character this year. 🙂 She is an animate statue, carved thousands of years ago in the likeness of a moon elf. After a couple hundred years of traveling and living in many places, she became tired and began to take naps for years at a time. While she sleeps she appears like any other granite statue. She entrusted the care and protection of her slumbering body to her friend Bright Horn and her unicorn herd.

As an animate statue she has no need to eat, sleep, breathe, etc. However the enchantment that animates her does let her mimic these behaviors as she wishes in order to blend in. The only way one can tell she is not alive is to touch her. While her skin appears real it is hard and cold as stone. She does not have any magic of her own other than to mimic life. She is capable of some emotion but it is subtle.

Hope you enjoy her story as she visits the Fantasy Faire starting April 21st and lasting until May 1st. I will be trying to get a post up almost every night and do one post for each of the sims. Not every post will show N’Mara, some will feature people or creatures she meets at the Faire, but you will see her in many.
